Sonatrach Signs Two MoUs With Occidental Petroleum Corporation

SONATRACH and its US-based partner Occidental Petroleum Corporation (Oxy) signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) on the sidelines of the Algerian-American Energy 2025 Forum to consolidate and expand their cooperation through new partnership opportunities in the field of hydrocarbon exploration and production in Algeria.

The first MoU aims to define the framework for discussions on examining cooperation possibilities for the development of carbonate reservoirs; while the subject of the second MoU concerns the implementation of EOR (Enhanced Oil Recovery) techniques, with the aim of optimizing production and improving final recovery factors.

As a reminder, SONATRACH and the company OXY operate, with two other partners, the contractual perimeter of Berkine, within the framework of a Hydrocarbon Contract signed on July 19, 2022.
