James Nyamongo Appointed New National Oil CEO

James Nyamongo has been appointed the new National Oil Corporation of Kenya. This is after the Chief Executive Officer of National Oil Corporation of Kenya Ms. MaryJane Mwangi communicated her decision not to renew her contract during a Board meeting held on 09th October 2019.

The Board announced that it had accepted her decision and has with immediate effect appointed Nyamongo to serve as CEO in an acting capacity pending recruitment of a substantive CEO.

MaryJane Mwangi had formerly been the General Manager, Downstream Operations at the National Oil Corporation of Kenya under the former CEO Sumayya Hassan-Athmani who proceeded on terminal leave ahead of her contract expiry in March 2017 after a spate of suspensions and office politics.

Maryjane had also been put on acting capacity at the state corporation in February 2016 after Sumayya Athmani was sent on compulsory leave.
