Badada-1 well set to spud in late 2014/early 2015

Tower resources has announced that following the completion of the farm in to block 2B it is now readying to drill the badada-1 well which is  50km to the south of Sala-1 which has already returned successful results in block 9in late 2014/early 2013..

The badada-1 well will serve as a new source of hope for Tower Resources after the Namibia drilling programme which has being a disappointment for the company.

“Despite the Namibia drilling programme being a disappointment for us, our near term drilling in Kenya is evidence of the prudent early steps which were taken to turn Tower into a pan-African explorer with a broadening portfolio of high-impact exploration opportunities,” Tower Resources said in a statement.

Badada-1 is also to the west of Bhogal-1 which reported 91 metres of gas pay in Lower Cretaceous reservoirs, and is being further evaluated by Africa Oil and Marathon Oil.

According to Tower Resources Badada-1 which is the first, potential play-opening well in Block 2B will target gross mean unrisked prospective resources of 251mmboe in a Tertiary sequence analogous to the Tertiary discoveries in Block 10BB and 13T of the Lockichar Basin.

In total 19 leads with an estimated mean gross unrisked prospective resources of 1,593mmboe have been identified on Block 2B (Sproule International Limited, February 2014).

Tower Resources holds a 15% interest in Block 2B, in the Anza Basin while Lion Petroleum Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of Taipan Resources holds 45% of the license. Premier Oil is the last partner on the block and holds 55% of the license.
