EQUATORIAL GUINEA: Enermech Lands Major Chevron Deal to Advance West Africa Offshore Gas Ambitions

EnerMech has secured a strategic contract with global energy giant Chevron to deliver specialised pipeline pre-commissioning services for the Aseng Gas Development Project offshore Equatorial Guinea, marking another significant milestone in the country’s efforts to unlock its natural gas potential.

Under the agreement, EnerMech will oversee the preparation of approximately 19 kilometres of rigid production flowline linking the Aseng gas field to existing offshore infrastructure. The contract covers pre-operational engineering, project management and specialised pipeline pre-commissioning activities designed to ensure the infrastructure is ready for safe and efficient operations.

The project represents an important step in Equatorial Guinea’s broader strategy to strengthen its offshore gas industry, optimise existing energy infrastructure and attract sustained investment into the sector.

For EnerMech, the contract further strengthens its longstanding partnership with Chevron while expanding the relationship into its Pipelines & Subsea business.

EnerMech Chief Executive Officer Charles “Chuck” Davison Jr. welcomed the award as a significant achievement, highlighting the company’s growing capabilities in delivering integrated engineering and technical solutions across the energy sector.

The project will be coordinated from EnerMech’s Houston operations, leveraging its international engineering expertise and established pipeline pre-commissioning capabilities.

According to Nuno de Sousa, EnerMech’s Senior Vice President for Energy Solutions, Infrastructure & Industrial Solutions and the Western Hemisphere, the company will prioritise technical precision, operational safety and efficient project delivery to ensure the pipeline meets the required standards ahead of commissioning.

Beyond the contract, the development reinforces Equatorial Guinea’s ambition to position itself as a leading natural gas production and processing hub in Central Africa. By bringing additional gas resources into existing infrastructure, the Aseng project is expected to support the country’s long-term energy development strategy and create further opportunities across the offshore gas value chain.

The latest award also underscores the growing importance of strategic partnerships, specialised engineering expertise and infrastructure investment in unlocking Africa’s energy resources and strengthening the continent’s position in global energy markets.
