EGYPT: Saipem Awarded Zohr Field Contract

Saipem has been awarded a contract by Petrobel for the transportation, installation and pre-commissioning of 170 km of umbilicals for the Zohr Field, to be transported and installed between the central control platform (70 m water depth) and the subsea field (1,500 m water depth), connecting to the existing subsea production systems. The offshore campaign is planned to start during Q3 2023.

The Zohr field is believed to be the largest-ever gas discovery in Egypt and the Mediterranean. Zohr is located within the Shorouk concession, approximately 190 km north of the city of Port Said. Eni has a 50 per cent stake in the block and is responsible for operations there. The other stakeholders are Rosneft (30 per cent), BP (10 per cent) and Mubadala Petroleum (10 per cent).

Sumed together with another contract in Guyana  for the UARU oil field development project the Egypt for a total amount of approximately 1.2 billion USD.
