Afren has confirmed that Alan Linn who is currently acting as a consultant to the Board of has been appointed as Afren’s new CEO and a director of the Company.
Linn takes the CEO position with effect from completion of the interim funding announced on 13 March and 1 April 2015 which is expected to occur imminently.
Linn has an experience of two decades in the oil and gas industry having worked in various managerial positions in Lasmo, Cairn Energy, Tullow Oil before rising to the Chief Executive Officer seat at Roc Oil.
Linn replaces Osman Shahenshah who was fired in relation to payments made to them that were not authorized by the Board, and as first announced by the Company on 31 July 2014.
Afren is currently exploring for oil and gas in a number of countries in Eastern Africa including Kenya, Ethiopia, Madagascar, Seychelles and Tanzania with other exploration assets in other African countries including Nigeria, Ghana,Côte d’Ivoire, Congo Brazzaville and South Africa.
