{"id":9985,"date":"2021-02-25T14:22:36","date_gmt":"2021-02-25T14:22:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/oilnewskenya.com\/?p=9985"},"modified":"2021-02-25T19:58:44","modified_gmt":"2021-02-25T19:58:44","slug":"mozambique-total-updates-business-opportunities-for-local-companies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/index.php\/mozambique-total-updates-business-opportunities-for-local-companies\/","title":{"rendered":"MOZAMBIQUE: Total Updates Business Opportunities for Local Companies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Total-led Mozambique LNG project held last week an\u00a0online seminar to update local companies on business opportunities for the year and share\u00a0other information relevant to companies seeking to do business with the project.<\/p>\n<p>The seminar was attended by more than 300 local companies, representatives of the National\u00a0Institute of Petroleum (INP), the National Hydrocarbon Company (ENH), the Multisectoral\u00a0Group for Local Content and Mozambican business associations. The Mozambique LNG\u00a0project has been quarterly holding similar seminars since the second half of 2018.<\/p>\n<p>The seminar detailed the full range of opportunities for 2021, including for the supply of goods\u00a0and services concerning health and safety equipment, human resources, construction,\u00a0maintenance, mechanics, catering, hospitality, camp management, transportation, and\u00a0electrical and office equipment.<\/p>\n<p>The event also included training regarding the project\u2019s health, safety and environment\u00a0requirements and procurement practices. There was also discussion about the project\u2019s suite\u00a0of capacity building initiatives, including an Enterprise Development Program which will be\u00a0launched shortly.<\/p>\n<p>Nat\u00e1lia Camba, representative of the Multisectoral Group of Local Content, stated:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis\u00a0seminar is undoubtedly one of the actions of Total and the Multisectoral Group of Local Content\u00a0to encourage and improve participation of Mozambican companies in this project. We\u00a0encourage Mozambique LNG project supply chain to continue to reinforce the dialogue and\u00a0actions aimed at increasing the competitiveness of Mozambican companies for their greater\u00a0participation in project activities. Last year, this commission also\u00a0worked on the development of tools to increase the visibility of opportunities related to local\u00a0employment and the acquisition of goods and services, improving the involvement of\u00a0stakeholders and the implementation of processes aimed at supporting day-to-day of the\u00a0project in activities of maximizing the local content and improving communication in general.\u00a0The seminar we held is part of this multiform work that we have been doing to maximize\u00a0opportunities for local participation in our project\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The Mozambique LNG project has already spent more than 1 billion US dollars on companies\u00a0registered in Mozambique, of which more than 250 million have been spent on Mozambican-owned\u00a0companies.<\/p>\n<p>Total E&amp;P Mozambique Area 1 Limitada, a wholly owned subsidiary of Total, operates\u00a0Mozambique LNG with a 26.5% participating interest alongside ENH Rovuma \u00c1rea 1, S.A.\u00a0(15%), Mitsui E&amp;P Mozambique Area1 Limited (20%), ONGC Videsh Rovuma Limited (10%),\u00a0Beas Rovuma Energy Mozambique Limited (10%), BPRL Ventures Mozambique B.V.
