This, in turn, is expected to lead to the emergence of new economic opportunities, the development of industrialization, increased business competitiveness and job creation on the Indian Ocean island.

As the sector’s lead donor, the Bank is already actively engaged in several transformative energy projects in Madagascar, including PRIRTEM-I and the Sahofika plant, both intricately linked to PRIRTEM-II.

The project is aligned with the Bank’s Country Strategy Paper (CSP) 2017-2021 for Madagascar, which focuses on the development of energy and transport infrastructure to support the country’s inclusive growth, as well as with the National Energy Policy (NPE).

The project is also in line with the Bank’s New Deal on Energy for Africa 2016-2025, as well as its High-5 priorities “Light up and Power Africa” and “Improve the quality of life for the people of Africa.”

The financing was approved on 11 December.

The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (https://www.AfDB.org/) has approved a loan of UA 30 million ($42.9) million to finance the second phase of a major power transmission … Read More

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false
_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[7442,11
80,8803,8802,8804,1470,8799,8805,8800,8801
post-9599","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-countries","category-top-news","tag-african-development-bank","tag-ambatomena","tag-ambohidranandriana","tag-ambohimiarivo","tag-madagascar","tag-prirtem-i","tag-sahofika-hydropower-plant","tag-sahofika-plant","tag-soanindrariny","entry

https://i0.wp.com/www.oilnewskenya.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Sahofika-Hydropower-Plant.jpg?fit=700%2C466&ssl=1
https://www.oilnewskenya.com/index.php/mauritania-over-289m-in-financing-to-develop-solar-power-generation-transmission-accelerate-energy-transition/
MAURITANIA: Over $289M in Financing to Develop Solar Power Generation, Transmission & Accelerate Energy Transition
Mauritania's Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Abdessalam Mohamed Saleh, and the African Development Bank's Deputy Managing Director for North Africa, Malinne Blomberg, signed, on Thursday in Nouakchott, financing agreements for two energy sector projects in Mauritania worth a total of US$289.5 million, covering solar power generation, transnational electricity interconnection…
https://www.oilnewskenya.com/index.php/mozambique-globeleq-edm-and-sasol-announces-financial-close-of-the-central-termica-de-temane-power-project/
MOZAMBIQUE: Globeleq, EDM and Sasol, Announces Financial Close of the Central Termica de Temane Power Project
Debt financing of the US$652.3 million project is being provided by IFC, together with its "B" loan participants FMO and Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund (together US$253.5 million), US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) (approximately US$191.5 million) and the OPEC Fund for International Development (OPEC Fund) (US$50 million).
