BP has announced the start of gas production from its latest development \u200eoffshore Egypt \u2013 the Qattameya gas field in the North Damietta offshore concession.<\/p>\n
Through bp\u2019s joint venture, Pharaonic Petroleum Company (PhPC), the field, which is \u200eexpected to produce up to 50 million cubic feet of gas per day, has been developed \u200ethrough a one-well subsea development and tie-back to existing infrastructure.\u200e<\/p>\n
Karim Alaa, bp\u2019s North Africa regional president, said: \u201cBy building on bp\u2019s significant \u200eexisting assets and infrastructure offshore Egypt, we were able to develop Qattameya \u200eefficiently and economically. Creating value through high quality, efficient oil and gas \u200edevelopments is a key part of bp\u2019s strategy. We see this as a great example of resilient \u200ehydrocarbons development.<\/p>\n

\nQattameya, whose discovery was announced in 2017, is located approximately 45 km west \u200eof the Ha\u2019py platform, in 108 metres of water. It is tied back to the Ha\u2019py and Tuart field \u200edevelopment via a new 50km pipeline and is also connected to their existing subsea \u200eutilities via a 50 kilometre umbilical.<\/p>\n
