{"id":8828,"date":"2020-08-12T14:02:02","date_gmt":"2020-08-12T14:02:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/oilnewskenya.com\/?p=8828"},"modified":"2020-08-12T14:02:02","modified_gmt":"2020-08-12T14:02:02","slug":"uganda-joins-the-eiti","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/index.php\/uganda-joins-the-eiti\/","title":{"rendered":"Uganda Joins the EITI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The\u00a0EITI Board has approved\u00a0Uganda\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/30PVPxy\">application<\/a> to join the EITI, making it the EITI\u2019s 54<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0member country and the 26<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0in Africa.<\/p>\n<p>EITI Board Chair, Rt Hon. Helen Clark, welcomed Uganda to the EITI community: \u201cEITI implementation can help lay the foundation for transparent and accountable management of the country\u2019s natural resource wealth. We welcome Uganda as an implementing country and look forward to the EITI promoting inclusive public debate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In accordance with the EITI Standard, Uganda is required to publish the required information (typically through an EITI Report) within 18 months of being admitted as an EITI implementing country (i.e., by 12 February 2022).
