Italian Giant Eni is said\u00a0 to have\u00a0 started the process to offload assets in the Republic of Congo and is said to be working with advisors to facilitate the transaction. This is with the aim of reducing the operation costs, staff numbers at a time oil prices have slumped by more than 30 percent following the continued surge of the COVID-19 pandemic that has seen economies shut down and demand at an all-time low.<\/p>\n
Eni has been present in Congo since 1968 with activities concentrated in the conventional and deep offshore facing Pointe-Noire and onshore covering a developed and undeveloped acreage of 4,725 square kilometers.<\/p>\n
Eni\u2019s main operated oil producing interests in Congo are the Zatchi (65%), Loango (50%), Ikalou (interest 100%), Djambala, Foukanda and Mwafi (35%), Kitina (65%), Awa Paloukou (90%), M\u2019Boundi (83%), Kouakouala (75%), Zingali and Loufika (85%) fields, with a production of approximately 90 Kboe\/d. Non operated fields are located in the PEX, Pointe Noire Grand Fond and Likouala permits (35%), with an overall production of approximately 30 kboe\/d.<\/p>\n
In the development phase include the M\u2019Boundi field and the offshore discoveries of the Marine XII permit.
