In accordance \u00a0with Section 101(y) of the Petroleum \u00a0Act 2019, Legal Notice No. 196 of 2010 and Legal Notice \u00a0No. 26 of 2012, the Energy \u00a0& Petroleum\u00a0 \u00a0Regulatory\u00a0 \u00a0Authority\u00a0 \u00a0(EPRA) has \u00a0calculated\u00a0 \u00a0the \u00a0maximum\u00a0 \u00a0wholesale\u00a0 \u00a0and \u00a0retail \u00a0prices \u00a0of petroleum\u00a0 \u00a0products\u00a0 \u00a0which will be in force from 15th July 2020 to 14th August \u00a02020.<\/p>\n

Taking into \u00a0account \u00a0the weighted\u00a0 \u00a0average \u00a0cost of imported\u00a0 \u00a0refined \u00a0petroleum\u00a0 \u00a0products, the changes \u00a0in the maximum\u00a0 \u00a0allowed \u00a0petroleum\u00a0 \u00a0pump\u00a0 \u00a0prices \u00a0in Nairobi \u00a0are \u00a0as follows: Super \u00a0Petrol,\u00a0 \u00a0Diesel\u00a0 \u00a0and \u00a0Kerosene\u00a0 \u00a0increase\u00a0 \u00a0by \u00a0KShs \u00a011.38 per \u00a0litre, \u00a0KShs\u00a0 \u00a017.30 and KShs 2.98 per litre respectively.<\/p>\n

The prices \u00a0are \u00a0inclusive \u00a0of the \u00a0revised \u00a0rates \u00a0for\u00a0 Petroleum \u00a0Development\u00a0 \u00a0Levy \u00a0on Super Petrol and \u00a0Diesel as per \u00a0Legal Notice No. \u00a0124 of 10th\u00a0 \u00a0July 2020 and \u00a08% Value Added \u00a0Tax (VAT)in line with the provisions \u00a0of the Finance \u00a0Act 2018 and \u00a0the Tax Laws \u00a0(Amendment)-Act 2020.<\/p>\n

The changes \u00a0in this month’s \u00a0prices \u00a0are as a result \u00a0of the average \u00a0landed \u00a0cost of imported<\/p>\n

Super \u00a0Petrol \u00a0increasing \u00a0by 12.64% from \u00a0US$ 248.21 per \u00a0cubic metre \u00a0in May \u00a02020 to US$279.58 per \u00a0cubic metre \u00a0in June 2020 and Diesel \u00a0increasing \u00a0by 32.16% from US$ 228.62 per cubic metre \u00a0to US$ 302.15 per cubic metre.<\/p>\n

In the period \u00a0under \u00a0review, \u00a0there \u00a0was \u00a0no Kerosene \u00a0discharged\u00a0 \u00a0at the Port\u00a0 of Mombasa. Accordingly,\u00a0 \u00a0the \u00a0prevailing\u00a0 \u00a0Kerosene\u00a0 \u00a0price \u00a0has \u00a0been \u00a0maintained\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 but \u00a0adjusted\u00a0 \u00a0for \u00a0the under\u00a0 \u00a0recovery \u00a0of Value Added\u00a0 \u00a0Tax by \u00a0Oil\u00a0 Marketing\u00a0 \u00a0Companies\u00a0 \u00a0that \u00a0occurred\u00a0 \u00a0in the previous \u00a0pricing \u00a0cycle.<\/p>\n

The Free On board \u00a0(FOB) price \u00a0of Murban \u00a0crude \u00a0oil lifted \u00a0in June \u00a02020 was posted \u00a0at\u00a0US$ 36.34 per barrel, \u00a0an increase \u00a0of 54.51% \u00a0from US$ 23.52 per barrel \u00a0in May 2020.<\/p>\n

Over \u00a0the\u00a0 same \u00a0period, \u00a0the\u00a0 mean \u00a0monthly \u00a0US Dollar \u00a0to Kenya \u00a0Shilling \u00a0exchange \u00a0rate appreciated\u00a0 \u00a0by 0.16% \u00a0from KShs. \u00a0106.65 per \u00a0US$ in May 2020 to KShs.\u00a0 106.48 per US$ in June 2020.<\/p>\n
