The five blocks namely: LR2_2019_Block01 (Avivi), LR2_2019_Block02 (Omuka), LR2_2019_Block03 (Kasuruban), LR2_2019_Block04 (Turaco) and LR2_2019_Block05 (Ngaji).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"525\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/2ND-LICENSING-ROUND-OF-UGANDA-TURACO-1024x525.jpg?resize=1024%2C525&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7703\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/2ND-LICENSING-ROUND-OF-UGANDA-TURACO.jpg?resize=1024%2C525&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/2ND-LICENSING-ROUND-OF-UGANDA-TURACO.jpg?resize=600%2C308&amp;ssl=1 600w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/2ND-LICENSING-ROUND-OF-UGANDA-TURACO.jpg?resize=100%2C51&amp;ssl=1 100w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/2ND-LICENSING-ROUND-OF-UGANDA-TURACO.jpg?resize=300%2C154&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/2ND-LICENSING-ROUND-OF-UGANDA-TURACO.jpg?resize=768%2C394&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/2ND-LICENSING-ROUND-OF-UGANDA-TURACO.jpg?resize=1200%2C615&amp;ssl=1 1200w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/2ND-LICENSING-ROUND-OF-UGANDA-TURACO.jpg?resize=887%2C455&amp;ssl=1 887w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/2ND-LICENSING-ROUND-OF-UGANDA-TURACO.jpg?resize=480%2C246&amp;ssl=1 480w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking at the Uganda Oil and\nGas Summit Minister for Energy Irene Muloni said the new round licensing was\naimed at increasing the oil reserves of the country and position East Africa as\nthe real destination for oil and gas investment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Muloni added that the license round\nwas driven by a number of factors including: Establishment of additional\npetroleum resources and reserves to ensure sustainability of oil production and\neconomic viability of the Refinery and the East African Crude Export Pipeline,\nto take advantage of the current high crude oil price, considerable interest in\ninvesting in the Country\u2019s oil and gas sector and the conducive investment\nclimate in Uganda as well as the minimal geological and commercial risks\nespecially in the Albertine Graben. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Further the licensing round is\ninformed by the existence of comprehensive and robust legal, regulatory and\ninstitutional frameworks which guarantee certainty to investors, the need to\ncreate several opportunities including national participation through service\nprovision and employment and the experience gained from conducting the 1st\nLicensing Round and the existence of the State-of-the-Art Data room which are\npivotal for a successful licensing round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following this announcement, the\nMinistry will issue a Request for Qualification (RFQ) inviting interested firms\nand\/or consortia to submit applications within a period of 6 months. Upon\nevaluation of the applications, the successful firms\/consortia will be issued\nwith bidding documents comprising the model production sharing agreement and\ndata sale regulations among others.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The bidding process will take\nfive months and result in the negotiations and signing of production sharing\nagreements between Government and the successful bidders.
