{"id":7581,"date":"2019-02-19T11:42:07","date_gmt":"2019-02-19T11:42:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/?p=7581"},"modified":"2019-02-19T11:42:29","modified_gmt":"2019-02-19T11:42:29","slug":"national-oil-seeks-farm-out-partner-in-kenyas-block-14t","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/index.php\/national-oil-seeks-farm-out-partner-in-kenyas-block-14t\/","title":{"rendered":"National Oil Seeks Farm-Out Partner in Kenya\u2019s Block 14T"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Block 14T operator State owned National Oil Corporation of\nKenya has said it is seeking a consultant to assist in the preparation of an\nappropriate farm down strategy advice in the preparation of a suitable farm\ndown plan and time table as well as help identify potential farm in partners in\nthe block.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The farm-out partner according to the advertisement dated 12<sup>th<\/sup>\nFebruary 2019 to take the exploration activities in Block 14T to the \u2018next\nlevel\u2019 and help identify other drill ready prospects apart from the one already\nidentified as well as help sink a well in the next two years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The corporation says it is seeking an equity partnership with\nan Oil and Gas company of international repute for the exploration activities\nit is undertaking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since taking over operatorship National Oil has been\nundertaking petroleum exploration activities within the Block including ground\ngravity survey, geochemical survey, Full Tensor Gradiometry (FTG), seismic as\nwell as drilling of two stratigraphic wells. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Using the data acquired, the Corporation says it has been\nable to delineate one drillable prospect with potential for others. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2017 the national explorer released the invitation to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/national-oil-corporation-readies-for-drilling-in-kenyas-block-14t\/\">tender<\/a>\nfor provision of onshore drilling services for the same block with emphasis on\nthe company contracted being able to enhance skills and technology transfer to\nthe staff of NOCK as well as foster local content through training of Kenyan\ndrilling crews. Since then an <a href=\"https:\/\/tinyurl.com\/y6x79ryf\">MOU<\/a>\nhas been signed between NOCK and the Geothermal Development Company that would\nsee the latter offer drilling services and know how including training of NOCK\npersonnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Block 14T has\na larger portion of its basement 0.5 to 2 kilometers in depth and is yet to be\ndrilled. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Block 14T lies within the Kenyan Tertiary Rift basin.
