{"id":7502,"date":"2019-01-21T10:04:41","date_gmt":"2019-01-21T10:04:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/?p=7502"},"modified":"2019-01-21T10:04:43","modified_gmt":"2019-01-21T10:04:43","slug":"lake-turkana-wind-project-generating-307mw-to-national-grid","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/index.php\/lake-turkana-wind-project-generating-307mw-to-national-grid\/","title":{"rendered":"Lake Turkana Wind Project Generating 307MW to National Grid"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Four months after the construction of the 436km Loiyangalani \u2013 Suswa transmission line was completed by KETRACO the project is now generating at 99% capacity according to the the LTWP consortium comprising\u00a0 <br>KP&amp;P Africa B.V\u00a0and\u00a0Aldwych International\u00a0as co-developers,\u00a0Investment Fund for Developing Countries,\u00a0Vestas Eastern Africa Limited,\u00a0Finnish Fund for Industrial Cooperation Ltd,\u00a0KLP Norfund Investments AS\u00a0 and Sandpiper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The company made the announcement\non January 14 substantially increasing the level of Kenya\u2019s reliance of\nrenewable energy and Wind Energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project now comprises of 365 Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs), with a capacity of 850kW each, for a total project installed capacity of 310 MW connected via a 33kV collection grid to the substation; 365 Step-up Transformers 0.69\/33 kV per Unit; a sectionalized 33kV Substation, Step-up Power Transformers 33\/220(400) kV; three Dynamic Reactive Power Compensation Systems (Statcoms); a SCADA System; the LTWP Accommodation Village, which houses 148 people; 130km of internal access roads; and,<br> 208km road from Laisamis to Sarima.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>UPDATE: As at 8:23am this morning, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/LTWP?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#LTWP<\/a> injected 307MW of clean energy into Kenya&#8217;s national grid.
