Tanzania\u2019s National Oil Company Tanzania Petroleum\nDevelopment Corporation (TPDC)\nis set to dominate activity in the upstream sector in the country with multiple\nseismic acquisitions set for 2019. This is according to the newly released\nTanzania Upstream Sector Outlook for 2019 which points out environmental and social\nimpact assessment as well as acquisition and processing of 3D seismic over\nvarious blocks operated by the state owned company totaling just under 900 sq.km.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The outlook also highlights drilling activity in various\nblocks in the country by both old and new exploration companies as well as the\npotential of increased gas reserves to connect to the national pipeline and\nsatisfy existing demand which currently outstrips demand in some\nareas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Offshore there seems to be little activity expected with\nnegotiations still ongoing on the LNG project with large amounts of gas already\ndiscovered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the 17-page document answers several questions for\nstakeholders, primarily which blocks they should focus on during the next 12\nmonths to prioritize their efforts and investments with new entrants into the\nsector also benefiting from the historical background covering activity between\n1952 and 1997.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The outlook marks among the main companies to watch out in 2019 include: Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC), Ndovu Resources, Swala Energy, Maurel et Prom and PanAfrican Energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
