{"id":7288,"date":"2018-11-30T06:16:43","date_gmt":"2018-11-30T06:16:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/?p=7288"},"modified":"2018-11-30T06:18:11","modified_gmt":"2018-11-30T06:18:11","slug":"discover-exploration-limited-farms-blocks-35-36-37-tullow-oil-offshore-comoros","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/index.php\/discover-exploration-limited-farms-blocks-35-36-37-tullow-oil-offshore-comoros\/","title":{"rendered":"Discover Exploration Limited Farms Out Blocks 35, 36 &#038; 37 to Tullow Oil Offshore Comoros"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Discover Exploration Limited has announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary Discover Exploration Comoros B.V.\u00a0has signed a binding agreement to farm out a 35% working interest in its Production Sharing\u00a0Contract (PSC) covering blocks 35, 36 &amp; 37 offshore the Union of the Comoros to Tullow Comoros Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tullow Oil plc.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the transaction, Tullow will become the operator, and will partly carry Discover\u00a0for a 3D seismic survey and the first exploration well.<\/p>\n<p>Simultaneously, Discover has signed a binding agreement to acquire the entire issued share capital of Bahari Resources Limited (\u201cBahari\u201d), its 40%\u00a0joint venture partner in the Comoros PSC.<\/p>\n<p>Following completion of both transactions, Discover will hold a 65% non-operated working\u00a0interest in the Comoros PSC (through its wholly-owned subsidiaries Discover Exploration\u00a0Comoros B.V. and Bahari), while Tullow will hold the remaining 35% and operatorship\u00a0(through its wholly-owned subsidiary Tullow Comoros Limited).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are excited that Tullow joins\u00a0Discover in this highly prospective license. The joint venture partners of Rovuma Areas 1 and 4 include\u00a0Anadarko Petroleum Corp., China National Offshore Oil Corp. (CNOOC), Eni S.p.A.,\u00a0ExxonMobil Corp., Mitsui &amp; Co. and PTT Exploration and Production (PTTEP).<\/p>\n<p>In a Competent Persons Report dated August 2018, ERCE, the UK-based independent\u00a0energy consulting group, estimates that <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/2ADTmYO\">two partly stacked prospects<\/a> in Comoros blocks 35,\u00a036 &amp; 37 together contain gross mean unrisked prospective resources of circa 7.1 billion\u00a0barrels of oil (+1.1 TCF of associated gas) in an oil case or 49 TCF of non-associated gas (+2.3\u00a0billion barrels of condensate) in a gas case.<\/p>\n<p>Following <a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/2DS1x6T\">ratification<\/a> of the Comoros PSC in 2014, Discover and Bahari acquired and interpreted circa 3,900 km of 2D seismic data, and conducted a range of exploratory studies.\u00a0This farm out to Tullow marks the successful completion of the first exploration period.
