{"id":7253,"date":"2018-11-16T07:02:21","date_gmt":"2018-11-16T07:02:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/?p=7253"},"modified":"2018-11-16T07:02:21","modified_gmt":"2018-11-16T07:02:21","slug":"south-sudan-oil-power-2018-returns-to-juba-next-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/index.php\/south-sudan-oil-power-2018-returns-to-juba-next-week\/","title":{"rendered":"South Sudan Oil &#038; Power 2018 Returns to Juba Next Week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>South Sudan Oil &amp; Power 2018 is returning to Juba on Nov. 21-22, and\u00a0is focused on attracting international investors and service companies into the country\u2019s newly revamped\u00a0oil industry.<\/p>\n<p>The theme for the conference \u2014 Embracing the Private Sector \u2014 follows the successful resumption of oil<br \/>\nproduction by the Greater Pioneer Operating Company this year and the introduction of new international<br \/>\ncompanies into the market, including Russia-based JSC Zarubezhneft. The Russian company is set to<br \/>\nbegin exploring the country\u2019s open acreage and opportunities in trading after signing a memorandum of<br \/>\nunderstanding with the Ministry of Petroleum this month.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year operating consortia investors\u00a0CNPC and Petronas affirmed their commitment to improving and increasing oil production in South\u00a0Sudan after re-signing their production agreements with the government. Nigeria-based Oranto Petroleum\u00a0began exploring for oil and gas in Block B3 in November 2017. With a new peace deal signed and in\u00a0implementation, the government and existing investors in Juba are optimistic about prospects for energy\u00a0sector growth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSouth Sudan is dedicated to expanding oil and gas operations to strengthen the economy, as well as<br \/>\npursue economic diversification through new infrastructure and power projects,\u201d said Hon. Ezekiel Lol<br \/>\nGatkuoth, Minister of Petroleum, South Sudan. \u201cWith two out of three of South Sudan\u2019s operating<br \/>\ncompanies producing again, it is imperative that new international service companies and providers enter<br \/>\nthe market to meet the demand for services. We are going to have an aggressive push and incentivize<br \/>\nexploration activities with new blocks. South Sudan Oil &amp;amp; Power 2018 will be the venue for these deals<br \/>\nto move forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Following a successful event in 2017 \u2014 the country\u2019s first dedicated energy and infrastructure conference<br \/>\n\u2014 the two-day SSOP conference this year will include panel discussions on oilfield development;<br \/>\nbuilding the nation through energy infrastructure; and public private partnerships and initiatives; as well<br \/>\nas a reception and gala dinner, presentations and workshops.<\/p>\n<p>The 2018 conference will feature ministerial delegations from Sudan and Equatorial Guinea, and is held<br \/>\nunder the auspices of H.E.
