The project is being led by the subsea &amp; export systems team with support from capital projects teams.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are delighted to be working with the Pipeline Project Management Team on this project which leverages Wood\u2019s broad capabilities. Our independent onshore pipeline engineering expertise combined with the latest project delivery technology will allow us to challenge the design, working to reduce cost and boost efficiencies. The Lokichar to Lamu Crude Oil Pipeline project is being developed by the Pipeline Project Management Team, a consortium which includes Tullow Oil, Africa Oil and Total in partnership with the Government of Kenya,\u201d Bob MacDonald, CEO, Specialist Technical Solutions, Wood.<\/p>\n<p>Late last year Wood acquired Amec Foster a British\u00a0multinational\u00a0consultancy, engineering and\u00a0project management\u00a0company headquartered in London which focuses on the Oil, Gas &amp; Chemicals, Mining, Power &amp; Process and Environment &amp; Infrastructure markets and has offices in over 55 countries worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>In October last year the KJV partners Government of Kenya and Tullow Oil, Africa Oil and\u00a0Maersk Oil signed a Joint Development Study Agreement (JDA) to carry out a study for\u00a0the proposed 892 km crude oil pipeline opening the way for \u00a0important studies to commence such as FEED, Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA), as well as studies on pipeline financing and ownership.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Wood beat 7 other bids \u00a0from firms hoping to undertake the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) who were selected from a pool of engineering firms who submitted applications to be prequalified for the pipeline design after the ministry sent out an expression of interest in 2016.<\/p>\n<p>The FEED will include a study on the design of the pipeline the route, basic engineering and will also formulate basic technical requirements as well as inform technical requirements and the investments needed to put up the pipeline.<\/p>\n<p>Once the design has been submitted it is expected that the construction of the pipeline will commence in 2019 and take two years to complete.<\/p>\n<p>About Wood Plc<\/p>\n<p>Wood is a global leader in the delivery of project, engineering and technical services to energy and industrial markets.
