{"id":7018,"date":"2018-05-24T14:17:09","date_gmt":"2018-05-24T14:17:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/?p=7018"},"modified":"2018-05-24T14:17:09","modified_gmt":"2018-05-24T14:17:09","slug":"president-kenyatta-flag-off-trucking-kenyas-oil-june-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/index.php\/president-kenyatta-flag-off-trucking-kenyas-oil-june-3\/","title":{"rendered":"President Kenyatta to flag off trucking of Kenya\u2019s oil on June 3"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>President Uhuru Kenyatta will flag off trucking of Kenya\u2019s early oil from Lokichar in Turkana County on\u00a0<span data-term=\"goog_1437728627\">June 3<\/span>,\u00a0in what will inject oil as a critical factor in the economy,\u00a0State House says.<\/p>\n<p>This follows a meeting at State House, Nairobi, chaired by President Kenyatta and attended by the Kenya Joint Venture Partners comprising Tullow Oil, Africa Oil Corporation and Total, Turkana County leaders including Governor Josphat Nanok and Petroleum and Mining Cabinet Secretary John Munyes and his team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are ready to get started. This is important for our country as a whole, and for the community in the producing area,\u201d President Kenyatta said at the meeting that discussed the Early Oil Pilot Scheme.<\/p>\n<p>The Early Oil Pilot Scheme is a project that will utilize existing wells in Turkana County to produce 2,000 barrels of oil per day which will be transported to Mombasa by road.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the meeting, Governor Nanok said the Turkana community has been informed of the agreement on the sharing of revenue from the oil proceeds.<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s meeting was a follow up to another one held last week with leaders from Turkana County where the agreement on revenue sharing from oil proceeds was reached.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at last week\u2019s meeting, President Kenyatta announced that the revenue from oil will be shared on the basis of 75 per cent for all Kenyans through the National Government, 20 per cent to the county government and five per cent will go to the local community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe now have an understanding that can put Kenya on the map of oil exporting countries.
