Analysis from gas samples collected by SGS Kenya Limited and analysed by Weatherford Laboratories, USA shows that indicates a possible mixed source\u00a0 both biogenic and thermogenic according to the report seen by OilNews Kenya.<\/p>\n

The analysis by Weatherford Laboratories further indicate that the methane concentrations were 38% and likely of thermogenic origin while the lack of longer chain alkanes indicate possible biogenic source.<\/p>\n

Kajiado residents will be happy to know that both analysis show that no poisonous gases were identified apart from higher concentrations of methane. Despite the positive findings it is unlikely to see any commercial use following its potentially causing climate change.<\/p>\n

The report now recommends more analysis to differentiate between multiple thermogenic source to analyze the carbon of ethane in at least one of these samples as well as further geology and geophysics (G&G) field studies to identify the potential source rocks, possible migration pathways and time of organic matter maturation.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnderstanding and quantifying the sources of methane in sedimentary environments is critical for energy exploration, studies of climate change and biogeochemical cycle,\u201d says the report.<\/p>\n

The government through the ministry of petroleum and mining has poured cold water on the finding saying the there \u2018was nothing under the rocks\u2019 crushing any hopes of further analysis on the well.<\/p>\n
