{"id":6563,"date":"2017-11-23T19:16:57","date_gmt":"2017-11-23T19:16:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/?p=6563"},"modified":"2017-11-24T08:33:40","modified_gmt":"2017-11-24T08:33:40","slug":"uk-oil-gas-trade-delegation-meets-ugandas-president","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/index.php\/uk-oil-gas-trade-delegation-meets-ugandas-president\/","title":{"rendered":"UK Oil and Gas Trade Delegation Meets With Uganda&#8217;s President"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>United Kingdom Prime Minister&#8217;s Trade Envoy to Uganda and Rwanda Lord Dolar Poppat has today led the Energy Industries Council (EIC) Delegation to statehouse in Kampala to meet President Yoweri Museveni.<\/p>\n<p>President Museveni warmly welcomed the delegation to Uganda saying that partnership between the United Kingdom and Uganda is important for business to grow and thrive between the two countries.<br \/>\n\u201cBusiness means two players: the producer of a good or service and the consumer. If you do not have those two people, you do not have business,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Museveni added that the other actors that make business thrive, such as security and infrastructure development, have been achieved in Uganda.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have got enough power, transport routes are improving and the manpower is now more educated,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The delegation who have been in the country since Monday are hoping to tap from the huge oil and gas projects being undertaken in Uganda with The Lake Albert Development, the proposed oil refinery and the planned pipeline to Tanzania already having British involvement.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_6565\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6565\" style=\"width: 404px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Lord-Popat-delegation-in-Uganda.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6565 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Lord-Popat-delegation-in-Uganda.jpg?resize=404%2C562&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"404\" height=\"562\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Lord-Popat-delegation-in-Uganda.jpg?w=404&amp;ssl=1 404w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Lord-Popat-delegation-in-Uganda.jpg?resize=72%2C100&amp;ssl=1 72w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Lord-Popat-delegation-in-Uganda.jpg?resize=216%2C300&amp;ssl=1 216w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 404px) 100vw, 404px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-6565\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Lord Popat, the Prime Minister&#8217;s Special Trade Envoy to Uganda visited Tullow Oil development in Buliisa District yesterday with The EIC Energy delegation.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Other than meeting the President the delegation will also tour the various oil fields in the country as well as be adviced on the available opportunities for investment.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our oil and gas sector has amazing expertise and has long-been an\u00a0outward-looking industry. At a time when both Britain and the energy industries are\u00a0searching for potential new markets, I believe Uganda offers one of the best solutions,&#8221; said Lord Poppat.<\/p>\n<p>Among areas that have been highlighted as holding the highest potential for investors include waste management and training as well as pipeline construction.
