Block 2 Statoil operator plans to drill one-well drilling program offshore Tanzania in Q1 2018 and has already contracted Ocen Rig an international contractor of offshore deep water drilling services.<\/p>\n

The drilling to be performed by the Ocean Rig Poseidon hopes to add to its earlier seven discoveries including Zafarani<\/a>, Lavani, Tangawizi and Mronge<\/a> discoveries in 2014, the Piri<\/a> and Giligiliani<\/a> discoveries in 2014, lastly the Mdalasini <\/a>discovery in 2015 all estimated combined in-place volume of around 22 trillion cubic feet.<\/p>\n

Block 2 covers an area of approximately 5,500 square kilometres and lies in water depths between 1,500\u00a0and 3,000 metres.<\/p>\n

Statoil Tanzania AS has 65% working interest, with ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Limited as a partner with 35% interest.<\/p>\n
