{"id":5436,"date":"2016-11-28T14:37:51","date_gmt":"2016-11-28T14:37:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/?p=5436"},"modified":"2017-01-24T13:21:41","modified_gmt":"2017-01-24T13:21:41","slug":"speaapg-africa-energy-and-technology-conference-aetc-set-for-nairobi-next-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/index.php\/speaapg-africa-energy-and-technology-conference-aetc-set-for-nairobi-next-week\/","title":{"rendered":"SPE\/AAPG Africa Energy and Technology Conference (AETC) set for Nairobi Next Week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At next week\u2019s SPE\/AAPG Africa Energy and Technology Conference (AETC), representatives of IOCs, NOCs, governments, academia, technology and service providers will come together to explore the challenges faced and solutions to ensure these hydrocarbons reach the market in a manner that is expedient, safe and environmentally sustainable &#8211; while creating value for the stakeholders.<\/p>\n<p>AETC will taking place at the Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya from 5-7 December.<\/p>\n<p>The programme for AETC will include an executive plenary session, keynote session and two panel sessions where senior industry executives, government representatives and academics will discuss:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>where Africa is heading in the energy world, and the challenges that lie ahead;<\/li>\n<li>success factors in leveraging sub-Saharan Africa\u2019s natural gas resources;<\/li>\n<li>social responsibility in Africa as it relates to the energy industry (including supporting local communities, use of technology to mitigate the effect of climate change, the transition to renewables);<\/li>\n<li>regulatory and contractual regimes across Africa, and their fitness for purpose, with particular regard to environmental stewardship.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Among the industry leaders taking part will be:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sam Abraham, Geothermal Project Manager;<\/li>\n<li>Luca Dragonetti, Managing Director, ENI Kenya;<\/li>\n<li>Emeka Ene, CEO, Oildata Inc and Xenergi;<\/li>\n<li>Manuel Gracas de Deus, General Manager \u2013 Health, Environment and Safety, Cabinda Gulf Oil (Chevron);<\/li>\n<li>Bill Haskett, Managing Director, Haskett Consulting International;<\/li>\n<li>Keith Hill, President and CEO, Africa Oil Corp;<\/li>\n<li>Gurjeet Phull Jenkins, Country Manager &#8211; Kenya, Anadarko;<\/li>\n<li>Andrew Kamau, Principal Secretary, State Department for Petroleum, Kenyan Ministry of Energy and Petroleum, Kenya;<\/li>\n<li>Connie Martinon, Social Affairs Manager, Total Exploration and Production &amp; Lecturer, University of Nairobi;<\/li>\n<li>Yusuf Matashi, Managing Director, Nigerian Petroleum Development Company;<\/li>\n<li>Mary-Jane Mwangi, Acting CEO, National Oil Company Kenya (NOCK);<\/li>\n<li>Ernest Rubondo, Executive Director, Petroleum Authority of Uganda;<\/li>\n<li>Joe Sang, Managing Director, Kenya Pipeline Company;<\/li>\n<li>Christopher Smith, Assistant Secretary for Fossil Energy, U.S. Department of Energy;<\/li>\n<li>Phillip Steyn, Vice President &amp; COO, Rhino Resources;<\/li>\n<li>Scott W. Tinker, Director, Bureau of Economic Geology, The University of Texas at Austin.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>AETC will also include a high-calibre technical programme composed of sixteen sessions which will cover geology, engineering, midstream, commercialisation, regulatory regimes, agreements, social programmes, renewables and industry challenges such as CO<sub>2<\/sub> sequestration.<\/p>\n<p>AETC will be an opportunity for delegates to network with other industry professionals, making new contacts and discussing business opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>AETC will be hosted by the National Oil Company of Kenya, and is endorsed by the Kenyan Ministry of Petroleum and Energy and KenGen.
