The Joint Pipeline Development Committee (JPDC) and project steering committee consisting of energy officials from Uganda and Tanzania have agreed to fast track the implementation the implementation of the joint Crude oil export Pipeline from Hoima to Tanga port.<\/p>\n
The two groups led by the respective ministers Prof Sospeter Muhongo and Irene Muloni are also said to have signed a memorandum of understanding to remove hurdles from the project including national and local government consents, project route, land access as well as environmental and social aspects.<\/p>\n
Tanzania said its cabinet had approved that the country\u2019s attorney general to submit legislation that would allow changes in tax law among incentives the two governments agreed on when routing the pipeline.<\/p>\n
Uganda\u2019s cabinet has also been discussing various packages agreed with Tanzania with various issues at different stages of approval.<\/p>\n
Tanzania said it is also working to ensure smooth operations at the Tanga port in issues such as cargo handling.<\/p>\n
Both countries have also resolved to fasten the upgrading of infrastructure such as feeder and access roads.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
