Delegates from 28 countries now confirmed to attend EAOGS 2016<\/em><\/p>\n

In a letter signed by Principal Secretary Andrew N. Kamau, the Kenyan Ministry of Energy & Petroleum has urged \u201cEast African Ministries and National Oil Companies to engage with international and local investors to review and examine available opportunities across the region\u201d at the East Africa Oil & Gas Summit (EAOGS), to be held from 15-17 November 2016 at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre in Nairobi.<\/p>\n

Over 3,000 oil and gas executives are expected to attend the EAOGS exhibition and conference \u2013 the largest event of its kind in East Africa. Delegates registering over the last couple of days include the Country Manager for Shell, Regional Director for Delonex Energy and the CEO of OEM Energy.<\/p>\n

Urging regional stakeholders to play an active role in discussions, Kamau adds \u201cThe Ministry of Energy & Petroleum is once more delighted to be associated with the Summit. Considering the huge agenda for East African nations, we would appreciate it if you would be part of the team to develop industry and achieve the oil and gas objectives for the region.\u201d<\/p>\n

The letter comes just a few weeks after Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta announced that the government has brought forward the country\u2019s oil production deadline by two years and \u2018set a path\u2019 that will enable the country to become a major producer and exporter by 2019. Tullow Oil will now send the country’s first barrels of oil to the market in March 2017, with exports expected soon after.<\/p>\n

Hon Charles Keter, Cabinet Secretary of the Ministry of Energy & Petroleum in Kenya is set to present a keynote address at the opening ceremony of the Summit. Whilst Mr. Kamau will be delivering a detailed update on Kenya\u2019s oil and gas sector including new developments and strategies to meet its ambitious production targets over the next 12 months.<\/p>\n
