Over 500 people attended the dinner for an evening of celebration in London on Thursday 19 February 2015.\u00a0The project has also been\u00a0named the African Renewables Deal of the Year 2014.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span id=\"more-1\"><\/span>The Lake Turkana Wind Power project was awarded another African Renewables Deal of the Year 2014 at the IJGlobal Awards 2014 Europe &amp; Africa in London on Thursday 19 February.\u00a0 The project was also named the African Renewables Deal of the Year 2014 by\u00a0Project\u00a0Finance International\u00a0earlier this month.\u00a0 The IJGlobal Europe &amp; Africa Awards are a celebration of the best in class deals in energy and infrastructure over the past year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Reading from the feedback of the judging panel of the awards, host and IJGlobal editor, Sarah Tame, announced the Lake Turkana Wind Power project as winner, commenting that: \u201cThis project is a very significant project for Kenya, with its huge associated transmission infrastructure likely to be used to connect future projects to the grid.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Chairman of the Board at LTWP, Mugo Kibati said \u201cWe are truly delighted to receive this award.\u00a0 It is not only a great honor for LTWP but for Kenya as a whole.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><b>\u00a0<\/b>The\u00a0Lake Turkana Wind Power project\u00a0will provide 310 MW of reliable, low-cost, onshore wind power to the Republic of Kenya\u2019s national grid, which is equivalent to approximately 20% of the current installed electricity generating capacity. The project is of significant strategic benefit to Kenya, and at Ksh70 billion (\u20ac600 million) will be the largest single-private\u00a0investment in Kenya\u2019s history.
