{"id":4407,"date":"2016-02-28T20:17:09","date_gmt":"2016-02-28T20:17:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/?p=4407"},"modified":"2017-01-25T12:43:40","modified_gmt":"2017-01-25T12:43:40","slug":"dodsal-strikes-gas-in-tanzanias-ruvu-basin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/index.php\/dodsal-strikes-gas-in-tanzanias-ruvu-basin\/","title":{"rendered":"Dodsal strikes gas in Tanzania\u2019s Ruvu Basin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tanzanian newspapers are reporting that United Arab Emirates based exploration firm Dodsal Resources has discovered natural gas in the Ruvu basin estimated to be 2.17 trillion cubic feet.<\/p>\n<p>The firm that signed the Production Sharing Agreement with the Government of Tanzania on October 23, 2007 is said to have discovered the gas in July 2015 but was restricted from making the announcement due to the 2015 Petroleum Act requirements.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Act Tanzania\u2019s Petroleum Upstream Regulatory Authority will advice the minister before making the announcement. The authority commenced operations less than a fortnight ago.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement made by CEO P. K. Surendran during\u00a0 a meeting with investors in the oil and gas industry\u00a0 organized by Tanzania government is also said to have been confirmed by the Minister of Energy and Minerals Professor Sospeter Muhongo.<\/p>\n<p>The minister expects that a formal announcement will be made soon.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Tanzania-Oil-Map.png?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-4408 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Tanzania-Oil-Map.png?resize=726%2C564&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Tanzania Oil Map\" width=\"726\" height=\"564\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Dodsal Resources possesses an on-shore Oil and Gas Concession 30kms West of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania, with an area of more than 15,000 sq. km.<\/p>\n<p>Previous Seismic Data Processing investigative explorations indicated the presence of hydrocarbons, with re-interpretation conducted at leading technology centers in Canada, USA, Italy, Germany and UK.<\/p>\n<p>Based on these positive results, Dodsal conducted additional 2D seismic acquisition with drilling of an Exploratory Well expected to have commenced in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>To date three wells have been drilled by the company at Mbuyu, Mtini and Mambokofi all in the coast region.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tanzanian newspapers are reporting that United Arab Emirates based exploration firm Dodsal Resources has discovered natural gas in the Ruvu basin estimated to be 2.17 trillion cubic feet.
