{"id":4308,"date":"2016-01-29T08:55:47","date_gmt":"2016-01-29T08:55:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/?p=4308"},"modified":"2017-01-26T09:37:06","modified_gmt":"2017-01-26T09:37:06","slug":"tpdc-commences-land-compensation-process-for-lng-facility-land","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/index.php\/tpdc-commences-land-compensation-process-for-lng-facility-land\/","title":{"rendered":"TPDC commences land compensation Process for LNG Facility Land"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation has commenced the process to authenticate title deeds held by plot no.1 Kitalu A land owners in Likong\u2019o, Lindi municipality the site for the construction of LNG facility.<\/p>\n<p>This follows an earlier <a href=\"http:\/\/ow.ly\/XFsaS\">announcement<\/a> by TPDC that it had acquired\u00a0 the land intended to be used for the project that include \u00a0measuring 2,071Ha while another \u00a017,000Ha in the surrounding areas has been set aside for development of industrial parks.<\/p>\n<p>Already the corporation says it has held a sitting with the administration of Lindi and representatives of various international oil companies involved in the project in regards to the compensation exercise.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting also highlighted benefits to be accrued from the project as well as challenges that lie ahead.<\/p>\n<p>Among attendees included representatives from the office of the president, ministry of lands, ministry of mines, housing development and the TPDC also involved in the authentication process expected to end on 30<sup>th<\/sup> January.<\/p>\n<p>The process hopes to identify the number of households to be affected by the relocation exercise for the purpose of compensation. Already a study has been conducted by the ministry of lands as well as the housing and settlement agency, this current exercise is to confirm the findings.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTPDC notifies all citizen to refrain from buying the land in question No.1 Kitalu A Likong\u2019o, Lindi Municipality and surrounding areas that have been set aside for projects that have national importance. The corporaton wishes to state that no compensation will be awarded to any new land owners who will purchase land to make a profit,\u201d TPDC said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The Tanzanian government is on <a href=\"http:\/\/ow.ly\/XFsoS\">record<\/a> that it plans to spend $6 million (approx.
