{"id":4073,"date":"2015-11-11T08:46:42","date_gmt":"2015-11-11T08:46:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/?p=4073"},"modified":"2017-01-26T12:42:22","modified_gmt":"2017-01-26T12:42:22","slug":"extended-well-testing-programme-in-amosing-field-in-kenya-block-10bb-complete","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/index.php\/extended-well-testing-programme-in-amosing-field-in-kenya-block-10bb-complete\/","title":{"rendered":"Extended Well Testing Programme in Amosing field in Kenya Block 10BB complete"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tullow Oil and joint venture partner Africa Oil have completed the production phase of the Extended Well Testing (EWT) programme at the Amosing field and is ongoing at the Ngamia field both in Block 10BB.<\/p>\n<p>This is according to the latest update by the operator where it elaborates\u00a0that the checks involved testing of five reservoir zones over distances of approximately 330 to 450 meters where pressure communication was observed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese results prove reservoir communication over distances suitable for field development,\u201d says Tullow Oil CEO Aidan Heavey.<\/p>\n<p>Extended Well Testing in the Amosing field which <a href=\"http:\/\/ht.ly\/Uvp3Q\">commenced<\/a> in May 2015 saw production from all five zones was at a combined average constrained rate of 4,300 bopd under natural flow conditions and a cumulative volume of 30,000 barrels of oil was produced into storage.<\/p>\n<p>The production phase of the Ngamia field EWT commenced in September although existing results to date indicate well productivity in line with expectations and proven communication in one zone to date.<\/p>\n<p>Initial rig-less flow testing during clean-up was encouraging at a combined maximum rate of 3,900 bopd and 1,740 bopd of 30 to 33 degree API oil for Ngamia-8 and Ngamia-3 with Ngamia-6 clean-up flow testing ongoing.<\/p>\n<p>On the ongoing appraisal activities the Amosing-5A exploratory appraisal well resting in an undrilled fault block encountered an estimated 15 to 28 metres of net oil pay in a downflank position and successfully proved a northern extension to the Amosing field.<\/p>\n<p>In the adjacent Block 13T to the west of Amosing the Twiga-3 exploratory appraisal was not successful encountering sands within the Lokone Shale sequence that are interpreted as good quality oil bearing reservoir over a gross interval of 120 metres.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis result will be assessed in future exploration and appraisal activities, stepping out into the South Lokichar basin to further define this encouraging additional oil potential,\u201d\u00a0 adds Heavey.<\/p>\n<p>Following completion of appraisal activities focus now shifts the Emesek-1 (Tausi) wildcat well, which will test the undrilled North Lokichar basin that was spudded on 15<sup>th<\/sup> October with drilling ongoing using the Marriot 46 rig.<\/p>\n<p>Once Emesek is complete the Marriot 46 will move to drill the exploratory Etom-2 well in an undrilled fault block adjacent to the <a href=\"http:\/\/ht.ly\/Uvq4o%20\">Etom<\/a> oil discovery after which it will proceed to drill the <a href=\"ht.ly\/U0zzA\">Cheptuket-1<\/a> exploration well in Block 12A.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tullow Oil and joint venture partner Africa Oil have completed the production phase of the Extended Well Testing (EWT) programme at the Amosing field and is ongoing at the Ngamia &hellip;
