{"id":3926,"date":"2015-10-20T07:53:19","date_gmt":"2015-10-20T07:53:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/?p=3926"},"modified":"2017-01-27T12:43:46","modified_gmt":"2017-01-27T12:43:46","slug":"gpb-global-resources-begins-2d-seismic-acquisition-in-ethiopia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/index.php\/gpb-global-resources-begins-2d-seismic-acquisition-in-ethiopia\/","title":{"rendered":"GPB Global Resources begins 2D seismic acquisition in Ethiopia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Russian explorer GPB Global Resources has said it has began acquiring 2D seismic at the Gewane-El Wiha license area where it signed a Petroleum Production Sharing Agreement (PPSA) in July 2014 with the Ministry of Mines of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Ethiopia-Gewane.png?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-3927 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Ethiopia-Gewane.png?resize=371%2C294&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Ethiopia Gewane-El Wiha license area \" width=\"371\" height=\"294\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Ethiopia-Gewane.png?w=371&amp;ssl=1 371w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/Ethiopia-Gewane.png?resize=300%2C238&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 371px) 100vw, 371px\" \/><\/a>The area is located in the Afar region of Ethiopia in the north-eastern part of the country and covers about 42 thousand sq. km has already seen Airborne FTG &amp; Magnetic Survey which was carried out in February 2015.<\/p>\n<p>The acquisition falls in the timelines set by the company which in its October presentation said 2D Seismic Data Acquisition is planned to start in Q4 2015<\/p>\n<p>The PPSA secures a 7-year exploration and a 25-year production period. GPB Global Resources is the operator of the project with 100 percent equity.
