{"id":3190,"date":"2015-07-30T09:49:17","date_gmt":"2015-07-30T09:49:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/?p=3190"},"modified":"2015-07-30T10:19:34","modified_gmt":"2015-07-30T10:19:34","slug":"kenya-uganda-commence-production-mid-2020-tullow-oil","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/index.php\/kenya-uganda-commence-production-mid-2020-tullow-oil\/","title":{"rendered":"Kenya, Uganda to commence oil production in mid 2020 \u2013 Tullow Oil"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kenya and Uganda could start producing oil three and a half years after project sanction expected by the end of 2016 according to the latest half year results by the company.<\/p>\n<p>According to the report the company expects to have drilled 200 to 300 wells in phases in Kenya almost of those to be drilled in neighboring Uganda where the company targets 500 wells.<\/p>\n<p>Currently the development initially targets the South Lokichar Basin where there has been nine out of eleven wildcat discoveries with the decision on other basins namely Kerio, North Turkana, North Lokichar, Turkana South, Turkwell, Suguta South and North basins as well as the Nyanza basin in block 12B expected pending exploration success.<\/p>\n<p>The company has already seen disappointment at <a href=\"http:\/\/ow.ly\/QgFxF%20\">Kodos-1<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/ow.ly\/QgFmR%20\">Engomo-1<\/a> in the Kerio and North Turkana basins while in Uganda the company targets a basin wide development.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/uganda-kenya-oil-basins.png?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-3192 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/uganda-kenya-oil-basins.png?resize=448%2C511&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"uganda kenya oil basins\" width=\"448\" height=\"511\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/uganda-kenya-oil-basins.png?w=448&amp;ssl=1 448w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/uganda-kenya-oil-basins.png?resize=263%2C300&amp;ssl=1 263w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 448px) 100vw, 448px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>To date the JV partners have drilled 13 appraisal wells with further appraisal and well testing ongoing with current potential unconstrained flow in the tested wells placed at 5,000 bopd per well.
