{"id":3087,"date":"2015-06-17T21:50:38","date_gmt":"2015-06-17T21:50:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/?p=3087"},"modified":"2015-06-17T21:50:38","modified_gmt":"2015-06-17T21:50:38","slug":"2nd-local-content-convention-opens-amid-calls-preference-local-companies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/index.php\/2nd-local-content-convention-opens-amid-calls-preference-local-companies\/","title":{"rendered":"2nd Local Content Convention Opens Amid Calls For Preference of Local Companies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 2<sup>nd<\/sup> Local content convention opened its doors on Wednesday bringing together players from the government and private sector to discuss ways of enabling local companies to participate in the ongoing oil and gas exploration in the region.<\/p>\n<p>The convention opened by Kenya\u2019s deputy president William Ruto saw a high panel of delegates from various fields with Ruto calling for the discussions to lead to the development of a network of competitive and efficient local suppliers who can contribute inputs to the extractive sector and in the process create jobs, increase incomes for workers, and improve skills in companies and the workforce.<\/p>\n<p>Ruto also called on international companies transfer unique technical skills, game changing technology and world class expertise in the oil sector.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is what partnership means; sharing what you know and learning from each other.
