{"id":2860,"date":"2015-04-28T11:25:31","date_gmt":"2015-04-28T11:25:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/?p=2860"},"modified":"2015-05-18T17:16:24","modified_gmt":"2015-05-18T17:16:24","slug":"sterling-energy-commences-3d-seismic-ambilobe-block-madagascar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/index.php\/sterling-energy-commences-3d-seismic-ambilobe-block-madagascar\/","title":{"rendered":"Sterling Energy commences 3D seismic in Ambilobe Block, Madagascar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sterling Energy has announced it has commenced its planned 3D seismic survey of 1,250 km\u00b2 over a high-graded portion of the Ambilobe Block, offshore Madagascar.<\/p>\n<p>The acquisition which is being undertaken by CGG Services SA, on behalf of the Joint Venture Partners, and completion is expected within 45-50 days.<\/p>\n<p>The Ambilobe PSC, awarded in 2004, is in Phase 2 of the Exploration Period with all minimum work commitments for the current phase completed.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/AmpAmb-Wells-and-Seismic-Database.png?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2862\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/AmpAmb-Wells-and-Seismic-Database-1024x724.png?resize=1024%2C724&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"AmpAmb-Wells-and-Seismic-Database\" width=\"1024\" height=\"724\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/AmpAmb-Wells-and-Seismic-Database.png?resize=1024%2C724&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/AmpAmb-Wells-and-Seismic-Database.png?resize=300%2C212&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/AmpAmb-Wells-and-Seismic-Database.png?w=2340&amp;ssl=1 2340w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In December 2013, Sterling completed a farm-out agreement with Pura Vida Mauritius under which all costs associated with the acquisition of the discretionary 3D seismic programme, up to a maximum of US$15 million, are carried by Pura Vida.<\/p>\n<p>Sterling expects that the carry will cover all the costs of the 3D seismic survey. Sterling and Pura Vida each hold a 50% interest in the Ambilobe Block with Sterling as operator.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Company\u2019s Chief Executive Officer, Eskil Jersing \u00a0the seismic acquisition will be essential in providing drilling prospects in the acreage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are looking forward to safely and efficiently acquiring the first 3D seismic survey on the Ambilobe Block; providing valuable new data which will be used to identify potential drillable prospects,\u2019\u2019 says Eskrill.<\/p>\n<p>Sterling has 50 percent interest in the 17,650km\u00b2 block while Pura Vida Mauritius holds the remaining interest.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sterling Energy has announced it has commenced its planned 3D seismic survey of 1,250 km\u00b2 over a high-graded portion of the Ambilobe Block, offshore Madagascar.
