Tullow Oil\u2019s application process for the 2015\/16 Tullow Group Scholarship Scheme<\/a> that opened in mid February is set to close on 31 March 2015.<\/p>\n

Scholarships are available to post graduates who are committed to making a contribution to their own country\u2019s development in various areas including Engineering & Technology, Geosciences, Oil & Gas Economics, Law, and Applied Sciences.<\/p>\n

Scholarships will be awarded across the following countries; Ethiopia, Ghana, Guyana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Mauritania, Uganda, Uruguay and Suriname with the number of awards allocated to each country is weighted to the appropriate phase (project life cycle) of Tullow\u2019s business within that country.<\/p>\n

A main requirement of the scheme is that scholars return to their home country to contribute to the future development of their country\u00a0as well as post graduate degrees.<\/p>\n

“We are proud to be supporting the scheme for the fifth year as these scholarships demonstrate Tullow\u2019s continued long-term commitment to developing local talent in our host countries,” says Sandy Stash, Vice President Safety, Sustainability & External Affairs.<\/p>\n

The next phase will include technical and vocational courses and will explore opportunities for awards in countries where we operate. The technical and vocational courses announced bt the company last year \u00a0are expected to see over a 1000 Kenyans get opportunities to pursue short term courses including welding and carpentry.<\/p>\n

Last year<\/a> Tullow Oil awarded Kenya 30 post graduate students scholarships to various universities in the United Kingdom and Europe representing a third of all scholarships bringing to total 55 the number of Kenyans that have benefitted from the scholarship scheme including 10 in 2012 and 15 in 2013.<\/p>\n

The Scheme is fully managed by the British Council and is aligned with Tullow\u2019s aims of supporting socio-economic growth in countries where it operates.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
