{"id":1959,"date":"2014-10-28T08:53:24","date_gmt":"2014-10-28T07:53:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/oilnewskenya.com\/?p=1959"},"modified":"2015-09-07T10:57:31","modified_gmt":"2015-09-07T10:57:31","slug":"bg-group-withdrawals-from-tanzanias-block-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/index.php\/bg-group-withdrawals-from-tanzanias-block-3\/","title":{"rendered":"BG Group withdrawals from Tanzania\u2019s Block 3"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BG Group has announced that it has informed the Tanzanian government of its intended withdrawal from its 60% equity interest in Block 3 with the company already having written off a $74 million exploration charge in its latest financial results.<\/p>\n<p>The withdrawal could be as a result of the minimal success in discoveries with only one discovery since 2012 from the Papa-1 well which reached a water depth of approximately 2180 metres and reached a total depth of 5544 m subsea around 100 kilometres offshore Tanzania.<\/p>\n<p>According to a statement by Ophir energy in early October\u00a0 the joint partner Ophir Energy has applied to take over BG\u2019s interest and operatorship of the license.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Ophir and Pavilion Energy have committed to move into the next exploration phase on Block 3. BG Group has decided to withdraw from Block 3.
