{"id":1899,"date":"2014-10-10T11:20:39","date_gmt":"2014-10-10T10:20:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/oilnewskenya.com\/?p=1899"},"modified":"2015-09-07T13:28:17","modified_gmt":"2015-09-07T13:28:17","slug":"3rd-east-africa-oil-gas-summit-exhibition-set-to-kick-off-in-nairobi-next-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/index.php\/3rd-east-africa-oil-gas-summit-exhibition-set-to-kick-off-in-nairobi-next-week\/","title":{"rendered":"3rd East Africa Oil &#038; Gas Summit &#038; Exhibition set to kick off in Nairobi next week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 3rd East Africa Oil &amp; Gas Summit &amp; Exhibition to be held next week is set to welcome 3000 international delegates, exhibitors and trade visitors to Nairobi this October for the annual strategic conference and international exhibition.<\/p>\n<p>The 3rd East Africa Oil and Gas Summit and Exhibition (EAOGS) which istaking place on the 15-17 October in Nairobi at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre in Nairobi is \u00a0an official initiative of the Ministry of Energy &amp; Petroleum and more than\u00a0300 companies\u00a0from 42 countries have participated in the event since its inception.<\/p>\n<p>At the request of the Kenyan government, the 3rd EAOGS has been expanded to allow more companies to participate in the international exhibition held alongside the strategic conference.<\/p>\n<p>Many companies have already reserved their exhibition stands including the Gold Sponsor MRDC and Afex Group, ITT Bornemann, Merrick, Spica Inspections, A2E, KPM, Africa Oil, Afren, NOC Kenya, Simba Energy, ABS, and the Chinese Pavilion among many others. The exhibition is set to welcome over 200 companies to the KICC in Nairobi and 1000s of trade visitors from across East Africa and internationally.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition will feature exhibition showcases and an opening tour with VIP guests from the Ministry of Energy &amp; Petroleum.<\/p>\n<p>The networking programme will include a welcome drinks reception and exhibition tour, a cocktail drinks reception and gala dinner as well as providing networking opportunities throughout the summit during the conference lunches and the coffee breaks sessions.<\/p>\n<p>The Conference programme will feature a 2 day strategic conference as well as round table country focus sessions where delegates can engage directly with the countries that are of specific interest for them. Participating countries will be represented by Ministry and national oil company officials who are best placed to brief delegates on the status of projects and opportunities available.<\/p>\n<p>Countries represented include Ethiopia, Kenya, Madagascar, Mozambique, Rwanda, Seychelles, Somalia, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda.<\/p>\n<p>2014 Session topics will cover the following themes:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Latest exploration updates<\/strong>:\u00a0What are the expectations for both the State and the international exploration companies for their activities in East Africa? Does East Africa continue to be an attractive exploration destination for new entry companies?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Moving towards production<\/strong>:\u00a0Kenya and Uganda are set to be the first countries in East Africa to export oil with current estimates that this could happen as early as 2016\/7. This session will look at all the challenges that need to be overcome as the East Africa region becomes the world\u2019s next great oil producing region.<\/p>\n<p>[twitter-follow screen_name=&#8217;oilnewskenya&#8217;]<\/p>\n<p><strong>Engaging the community<\/strong>:\u00a0The key to any production success is the engagement of the local community, and developing a strategy to ensure oil and gas revenues are channelled into building strong and sustainable societies. This session looks at what is already being done to ensure a transparent process of the long lead times of oil and gas projects. What more there is to do to support capacity building through education and training and what can the oil and gas companies do to meet the needs of the community affected by oil and gas development projects.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Attracting investment &amp; project finance<\/strong>:\u00a0This session will look at how East Africa should develop a self-financing oil and gas industry in addition to looking at solutions for project financing cross-border activities. The session will examine how oil and gas revenues will be monitored and present tax incentives that are available and future plans.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Spotlight on emerging markets<\/strong>:\u00a0Where are the new markets that are attracting interest, the opportunities and potential offered? This session will give the opportunity to emerging players to highlight their investment opportunities and planned licensing rounds; countries to include Comoros, Madagascar, Malawi, Rwanda, Seychelles and Somalia<\/p>\n<p><strong>Focus on the role of the service companies<\/strong>:\u00a0This session will look at the vital work that that service companies are doing to support the oil and gas industry to ensure that East Africa is a successful oil and gas production region.
