{"id":158,"date":"2013-12-06T17:45:48","date_gmt":"2013-12-06T17:45:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/oilnewskenya.com\/?p=158"},"modified":"2015-11-02T14:40:13","modified_gmt":"2015-11-02T14:40:13","slug":"oryx-petroleum-not-fruitful-in-congo-brazzaville","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/index.php\/oryx-petroleum-not-fruitful-in-congo-brazzaville\/","title":{"rendered":"Oryx Petroleum not fruitful in Congo Brazzaville"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Jasper Explorer Drillship spudded the H-1 well targeting the Horse prospect (formerly Ma) in early September and reached a total depth of 5,522 metres in late November.<\/p>\n<p>The well was drilled in 1,038 metres of water 80 kilometres offshore\u00a0Congo\u00a0(Brazzaville) in the western portion of the Haute Mer A license area.<\/p>\n<p>Primary targets were the Tertiary N3 reservoir, a turbidite play, and the deeper Cretaceous reservoir, an Albian age carbonate play.<span style=\"line-height: 1.5em;\">The principal exploration risks for Horse were reservoir quality and lack of hydrocarbon charge.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Although the H-1 well encountered both Tertiary and Cretaceous reservoirs with good porosity, the reservoirs were water bearing.<\/p>\n<p>The Corporation and its partners will analyze and incorporate the information obtained from the drilling of Horse\u00a0into the plans for the Haute Mer A license area in which Oryx Petroleum has a 20% participating and working interest.<\/p>\n<p>The Jasper Explorer will now move to test the previously announced Elephant discovery.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Jasper Explorer Drillship spudded the H-1 well targeting the Horse prospect (formerly Ma) in early September and reached a total depth of 5,522 metres in late November.
