The ceremony was attended by the President of the Republic of Angola, João Gonçalves Lourenço, alongside the Minister of Mineral Resources, Petroleum and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo, and the Chairman of the Board of Angola’s National Oil and Gas Agency (ANPG) Paulino Jeronimo.

The NGC project, which was operated by Eni before the establishment of Azule Energy, is Angola’s first non-associated gas development, with a processing capacity of approximately 400 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (MMscfd) and 20,000 barrels of condensate per day. Gas is sourced from the offshore Quiluma and Maboqueiro fields, treated and then supplied to the Angola LNG plant for export and domestic consumption.

Today’s milestone marks a decisive step in positioning Angola as a strategic player in the global natural gas market. The NGC project supports the country’s energy diversification and represents responsible resource development, enabling growth in other key sectors such as fertiliser production for agriculture.

The gas treatment plant entered the commissioning phase with gas in November 2025, marking the beginning of operations for the NGC project – achieved just 24 months after the groundbreaking ceremony in October 2023 and six months ahead of the sanctioned schedule.

The New Gas Consortium is operated by Azule Energy with 37.4% participation, in partnership with Cabinda Gulf Oil Company (CABGOC) with 31%, Sonangol E&P with 19.8%, TotalEnergies with 11.8%, and ANPG as the National Concessionaire.

Eni, through its satellite company Azule Energy – a 50:50 joint venture with bp and the operator of the New Gas Consortium (NGC) – inaugurated the NGC Gas Treatment Plant … Read More

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false
_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[7442,7445,11
94,160,7458,10317,12208,1428,10640,10638,11780,12116,9339
post-15349","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-countries","category-southern-africa","category-top-news","tag-agriculture","tag-angola","tag-anpg","tag-azule-energy","tag-cabinda-gulf-oil-company","tag-lng","tag-maboqueiro","tag-quiluma","tag-sonangol-ep","tag-soyo","tag-totalenergies","entry

https://i0.wp.com/www.oilnewskenya.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/Angola-Soyo.jpeg?fit=1920%2C1080&ssl=1
https://www.oilnewskenya.com/index.php/angola-eni-announces-the-completion-of-negotiations-to-start-up-new-gas-consortium/
Eni and its Partners in the New Gas Consortium (NGC), Chevron’s affiliate in Angola Cabinda Gulf Oil Company Limited (CABGOC), Sonangol P&P, bp and TotalEnergies, together with Angola’s National Agency for Oil, Gas and Biofuels ANPG, are pleased to announce that the Final Investment Decision (FID) for the development of…
https://i0.wp.com/www.oilnewskenya.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Angola-terrestrial-bassins.jpg?fit=1200%2C492&ssl=1&resize=350%2C200
https://i0.wp.com/www.oilnewskenya.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Angola-terrestrial-bassins.jpg?fit=1200%2C492&ssl=1&resize=350%2C200 1x, https://i0.wp.com/www.oilnewskenya.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Angola-terrestrial-bassins.jpg?fit=1200%2C492&ssl=1&resize=525%2C300 1.5x, https://i0.wp.com/www.oilnewskenya.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Angola-terrestrial-bassins.jpg?fit=1200%2C492&ssl=1&resize=700%2C400 2x, https://i0.wp.com/www.oilnewskenya.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/Angola-terrestrial-bassins.jpg?fit=1200%2C492&ssl=1&resize=1050%2C600 3x
Azule Energy, in collaboration with its partners has announced the successful completion of the Quiluma and Maboqueiro offshore platforms, a cornerstone of the New Gas Consortium (NGC) project.
