The Tanzanian Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) and The Mozambique National Petroleum Institute (INP have signed a memorandum of understanding that will enable both eastern African countries partner in issues related to the oil and gas industry.<\/p>\n
The agreement will particularly focus on enabling cooperation in technical data and exploration and production as well as methodology of collecting and storage of data.<\/p>\n
The cooperation also extends to projects such as training and evaluation of available reserves.<\/p>\n
The MoU is timely as both countries plan on how to exploit over 150 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of natural gas that have been discovered offshore with both countries sharing the Rovuma basin.<\/p>\n
A huge liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant is to be built on land at Palma in northern Mozambique, close to the border with Tanzania, to process the gas from Anadarko\u2019s fields. Meanwhile, ENI is looking at building a floating gas liquefaction facility which would be moored off the coast of Palma.<\/p>\n
Anadarko has just begun drilling at the Tembo-1 well onshore in northern Mozambique and there are hopes that oil might be discovered there.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
