Welligence Energy Analytics has reported that\u00a0 Chevron has made a gas discovery in its successfully drilled first offshore well in Egypt. According to Wellifence the Nargis-1X exploration well has discovered 3.5 Tcf of gas.<\/p>\n
The Nargis block is operated by Chevron 45%, with partners Eni\u00a045%, and\u00a0Tharwa Petroleum Company (S.A.E.)\u00a010%. The discovery is located in deepwater, offshore the Sinai Peninsula. The development of the discovery will be critical for maintaining Egypt\u2019s gas production at recent record highs.<\/p>\n
Chevron has a strong position in the East Mediterranean after acquiring Noble Energy in 2020.
