Under the direction of the Ministry of Hydrocarbons, the Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Nationale des P\u00e9troles du Congo (SNPC) and Xcalibur Multiphysics have signed a contract to gather geophysical gradio-gravimetry (AGG), gravimetry (sGrav), and magnetometric data in order to better understand the geology of the interior basin of the Congolese Cuvette.<\/p>\n
The Interior Basin of the Congolese Cuvette, divided into nine oil blocks, was divided as part of this acquisition into two groups of permits, forming the stages detailed below:<\/p>\n
MOKELEMBEMBE, NGOLO, NGOKI, MBOTO: Phase I
\nNTSINGA, MBESSE, KOBA, MBOLOKO: Phase II<\/p>\n
These geophysical studies will support the initiatives of the government of the Republic of Congo and SNPC to attract the interest of oil companies and attract investment to this border area.<\/p>\n
Covering an area of \u200b\u200bapproximately 225,000 km2 in the Republic of Congo and made up of Proterozoic to Cenozoic formations, the basin of the Congolese basin due to these geological characteristics could contain large deposits of oil and gas.<\/p>\n
This basin will thus be able to contribute considerably to the attenuation of the imbalance of supply and demand which is becoming more and more growing.<\/p>\n
It is noted that this vast under-explored sedimentary basin is located in an area presenting logistical challenges for resource exploration.<\/p>\n
Raoul Maixent Ominga, Managing Director of SNPC, said: \u201cThis geophysical study with Xcalibur Multiphysics is fully in line with SNPC’s strategy to reinvigorate exploration in all free zones of the Republic of Congo. When we have carried out exploration activities, it has led us to significant discoveries of oil and gas.
