The Secretary General (SG), African Petroleum Producers\u2019 Organization (APPO), His Excellency, Dr Omar Farouk Ibrahim called for greater commitments of the CEOs of National Oil Companies (NOCs) of Member Countries towards the achievement of APPO\u2019s objectives.<\/p>\n
The call was made during a recent courtesy call on the Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd (NNPC Ltd) Mallam Mele Kyari as part of APPO\u2019s campaign for greater cooperation among Member Countries.<\/p>\n
The SG explained that following the reforms leading to the birth of APPO, it has become imperative for major players in the African Oil and Gas industry especially the NOCs to play key roles at high levels in APPO. He then revealed that a meeting of CEOs of NOCs of Member Countries has been institutionalized in APPO for the exchange of technical experiences among Member Countries.<\/p>\n
His Excellency, Dr Omar Farouk Ibrahim while paying a heartfelt tribute to the GMD for his role and leadership in Nigeria\u2019s energy sector as well as the dynamism he has continued to bring to the company\u2019s transformation, formally invited him to the inaugural meeting of the CEOs scheduled for Luanda, Angola in May 2022. The meeting is part of activities lined up for the 8th edition of the African Petroleum Congress and Exhibition, CAPE VIII.<\/p>\n
Speaking also on the project towards the expansion of energy infrastructure throughout the African region, the SG lauded the project as a welcome development and urged its realization. He also solicited support for the APPO Fund, AEICORP.Responding, Mallam Mele Kyari stressed that the project towards the expansion of energy infrastructure in Africa is a key project.\u00a0\u00a0He urged APPO to take the lead in efforts towards strenthening all necessary collaboration to ensure its commencement before the meeting of CEOs of NOCs in Luanda.
