{"id":11687,"date":"2022-01-24T14:53:01","date_gmt":"2022-01-24T14:53:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/?p=11687"},"modified":"2022-01-24T14:53:01","modified_gmt":"2022-01-24T14:53:01","slug":"south-africa-koorhan-3-4-5-strike-gas-flow-testing-ongoing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/index.php\/south-africa-koorhan-3-4-5-strike-gas-flow-testing-ongoing\/","title":{"rendered":"SOUTH AFRICA: Koorhan 3, 4, 5 Strike Gas, Flow Testing Ongoing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span dir=\"ltr\">HIGHLIGHTS<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span dir=\"ltr\">Korhaan-5 drilling reached TD (Terminal Depth) at 432m.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span dir=\"ltr\">Korhaan-5 gas was sensed throughout the drilling of the Production\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">Section and will now be logged to establish stratigraphy and gas\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">bearing sediments.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span dir=\"ltr\">Korhaan-4 well has been successfully logged and flow rate testing is\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">planned to commence next week.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span dir=\"ltr\">Korhaan-3 well has drilled and cased the Surface Section having\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">encountered gas.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span dir=\"ltr\">Korhaan Project wells achieve 100% success rate in gas discovery.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span dir=\"ltr\">Company chairman Adam Sierakowski commented:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em><span dir=\"ltr\">&#8216;The Company is exhilarated to\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">see the success so far in the exploration undertaken on the Korhaan Project wells.\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">With strong gas shows already observed, the flow testing of each of the three wells\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">in coming weeks is anticipated to provide the platform for major milestones being\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">achieved such as first production and booking of maiden reserves.&#8217;<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><span dir=\"ltr\">Korhaan-5 <\/span><\/strong><span dir=\"ltr\">has completed drilling of the Production Section from 150m\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">to 432m, where TD was called due to the tight structures encountered. The well was\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">immediately lined up to a flare line in order to ascertain flow potential. Preliminary\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">gas flows were established under choked conditions with the drill string in the well,\u00a0<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">BOP closed on the pipe, and natural groundwater flowback. The well was <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">successfully logged to pinpoint productive intervals over 22-23 January.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Korhaan-4:\u00a0<\/strong>After a solid stabilization period, the well was cleaned out and filled with fresh water for logging. The logging strings included the following suites of tools: Gamma Ray. Conductivity, Pressure-Temp, Optical TeleViewer, Neutron, Density, Azimuth,Caliper.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"ltr\">The logs showed substantial cumulative gassy sandstone intervals. The well is being prepared for multi-day flow rate testing planned to commence next week.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Korhaan-3:<\/strong> Drilling was continued from 102m to 177m where Surface Section TD was called after substantial gas was encountered from the uppermost sands. The well was cased to 174m to mitigate pressure build-up behind the tubulars and was cemented on 23 January. After curing, we will continue to drill Korhaan-3 Production Section, expecting to TD and log the well by the end of January.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span dir=\"ltr\">The observed presence of gas in Korhaan-3 continues Kinetiko Energy\u2019s 100% success rate in its exploration and appraisal campaigns in South Africa.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>HIGHLIGHTS Korhaan-5 drilling reached TD (Terminal Depth) at 432m.
