Lebanese company Zakhem International has been awarded the building of the oil pipeline from Nairobi and Mombasa after submitting a bid of KES43 billion against a tender of Kshs.53 billion advertised by the Kenya pipeline company.<\/p>\n
The company that is owned by Rani Zakhem scored 95.5 percent in financial and technical score will be tasked\u00a0 in building the 20 inch diameter multiproducts over a distance of 452 kilometers.<\/p>\n
Zakhem beat nine other companies including four Chinese companies; CPECC, Avic International, SINOPEC and China Wuyi Company Ltd, India\u2019s Punj Loyd Ltd, Essar, Techno Fab Gammon and Kalpatura, Italy\u2019s Sapem SPA, Dennys \/IOT of Belgium, Daewoo and Samsung of South Korean.
\nThe Zakhem Group has for over thirty six years serving the petrochemical industry and through its worldwide branches has established an international reputation in the fields of engineering and construction of onshore pipelines, storage tank farms, gathering and pumping stations, refineries and industrial plants.<\/p>\n
Zakhem is also involved in cross-country pipeline activities including the installation of river crossings by the horizontal directional drilling technique.<\/p>\n
Other close contenders for the tender were two chinese firms China Petroleum Engineering and Construction Corporation, Sinopec International Petroleum Service and China Wu Yi Company Limited with 89 percent, 84 percent and 83 percent respectively.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
