The marine acquisition for 2D and 3D seismic data in Somalia by Seabird Exploration under contract from Soma Oil and Gas is expected in the coming weeks with the study that started in February expected to take 90-100 days.<\/p>\n
Under the terms of the agreement, Seabird was to acquire up to 20,000 km of 2D seismic data off the coast of Somalia for Soma Oil & Gas with Seabird deploying two survey vessels, the Northern Explorer and Hawk Explorer.<\/p>\n
The Company was also to use the process to collate and reprocess historic seismic data using modern techniques, that will prepare an evaluation of Somalia\u2019s petroleum potential.
\nThat company will also create a data room for the Federal Government of Somalia, into which all available data will be placed, including the newly acquired data from the Seabird seismic survey.<\/p>\n
Speaking during the signing of the contract with Seabird Soma Oil and Gas Robert Sheppard said the data would accelerate the development of the oil and gas industry in the horn of Africa nation which is largely under-explored despite recent discoveries in the same region indicating a lot of potential.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
