{"id":11211,"date":"2021-11-22T14:16:59","date_gmt":"2021-11-22T14:16:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/?p=11211"},"modified":"2021-11-22T14:17:00","modified_gmt":"2021-11-22T14:17:00","slug":"egypt-pharos-energy-announces-recommencement-of-el-fayum-development-drilling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/index.php\/egypt-pharos-energy-announces-recommencement-of-el-fayum-development-drilling\/","title":{"rendered":"EGYPT: Pharos Energy Announces Recommencement of El Fayum Development Drilling"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dy\"><span class=\"dr\">Pharos Energy has<\/span><span class=\"dq\"> announced a return to drilling in its El Fayum Concession in\u00a0Egypt, with the commencement of an interim three-well development programme.<\/span><span class=\"dq\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"dz\"><span class=\"dq\">Ed Story, President and Chief Executive Officer, commented:<\/span><span class=\"du\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"ea\"><span class=\"du\">&#8220;I am pleased to announce that, after a significant period of restricted activity in\u00a0Egypt, we have recommenced development drilling operations in El Fayum. This three-well infill development drilling programme will help increase production ahead of the main multi-year and multi-well programme to be drilled following completion of the IPR transaction, at which time our initial costs will be carried by our new partner in the concession*.&#8221;<\/span><span class=\"dq\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"dz\"><strong><span class=\"dq\">El Fayum Concession Infill Development Drilling<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"dq\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"a\"><span class=\"dq\">Operations have now commenced on the first well, in a three-well back-to-back development drilling programme, using the ECDC-2<\/span><span class=\"dm\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"du\">Drilling Rig. This first well is targeting the oil-bearing sandstones of the Abu Roash &#8216;G&#8217; and Upper Bahariya Formations, in a structurally optimal position within the North\u00a0Silah Deep\u00a0field. Drilling operations are expected to take 24 days and the well will be later tested, completed and brought on to production using one of the workover rigs on contract.<\/span><span class=\"dq\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"a\"><span class=\"dq\">Operations for this initial three-well programme are expected to finish in\u00a0February 2022. Petrosilah, on behalf of the Joint Venture, is currently tendering for two drilling rigs to continue the drilling campaign and for a H1 2022 commencement.<\/span><span class=\"dq\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"a\"><span class=\"dq\">The estimated capital spend for the three development well programme\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"dq\">is circa\u00a0$2.4m\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"dl\">net to Pharos (after adjustment, post the completion of the IPR transaction).<\/span><span class=\"dq\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"dz\"><strong><span class=\"dq\">Batran-1X Oil Discovery<\/span><span class=\"dq\">\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"a\"><span class=\"dq\">The exploration well Batran-1X, drilled in\u00a0May 2021\u00a0inside the Tersa Development Lease, is currently being tested by the SDF-1 Workover Rig. The Upper Bahariya UB-1 zone in the well tested oil at rates between 25 and 90 bopd during partial clean-up. The well is now in the process of being completed for a longer-term production test.
