{"id":11111,"date":"2021-11-10T19:32:53","date_gmt":"2021-11-10T19:32:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/?p=11111"},"modified":"2021-11-10T19:32:53","modified_gmt":"2021-11-10T19:32:53","slug":"south-africa-block-11b-12b-jv-contemplating-early-production-system-for-a-phased-development-of-the-paddavissie-fairway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/index.php\/south-africa-block-11b-12b-jv-contemplating-early-production-system-for-a-phased-development-of-the-paddavissie-fairway\/","title":{"rendered":"SOUTH AFRICA: Block 11B\/12B JV Contemplating Early Production System for a Phased Development of the Paddavissie Fairway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Block <span class=\"xn-money\">11B<\/span>\/<span class=\"xn-money\">12B<\/span> joint venture partners are contemplating an early production system (EPS) for a phased development of the Paddavissie Fairway according to Africa Energy.<\/p>\n<p>Africa Energy says joint venture is currently performing development studies and preparing a field development plan and an environmental application with the intention of agreeing gas terms and submitting an application for a Production Right before the Exploration Right expires in <span class=\"xn-chron\">September 2022<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>The EPS would provide first gas and condensate production from the Luiperd discovery and would accelerate the Block\u00a0<span class=\"xn-money\">11B<\/span>\/<span class=\"xn-money\">12B<\/span>\u00a0development timeline by utilizing existing nearby infrastructure on the adjacent block in order to supply gas to existing customers in Mossel Bay.<\/p>\n<p>The EPS is expected to significantly decrease the required capital expenditures to reach first production on Block\u00a0<span class=\"xn-money\">11B<\/span>\/<span class=\"xn-money\">12B<\/span>.\u00a0Africa Energy adds it expects that a full development of the Paddavissie Fairway would follow the EPS as the gas market expands in <span class=\"xn-location\">South Africa<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>The company says it is encouraged by the ongoing analysis of the seismic data that has identified additional prospectivity in the Paddavissie Fairway and to the east, confirming the large exploration upside remaining across the block. The development of Block <span class=\"xn-money\">11B<\/span>\/<span class=\"xn-money\">12B<\/span>\u00a0will have positive implications for the South African economy and will be critical in facilitating the country&#8217;s energy transition beyond coal with a domestic natural gas supply.<\/p>\n<p>On Block\u00a0<span class=\"xn-money\">2B<\/span>, the Company and its joint venture partners tendered for a semi-submersible rig and completed a seabed survey in preparation for drilling the Gazania-1 well. The operator, Azinam Limited (Azinam), finalized the well plan and is currently conducting negotiations with various rig contractors to optimize the well budget and drill the Gazania-1 well before the Exploration Right expires in <span class=\"xn-chron\">November 2022<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>HIGHLIGHTS<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>The Block\u00a0<span class=\"xn-money\">11B<\/span>\/<span class=\"xn-money\">12B<\/span><sup>1<\/sup>\u00a0joint venture is conducting a full prospect analysis from the fully-processed 2D seismic dataset acquired by Shearwater over the eastern part of the block (7,033 linear kilometers) that was received in\u00a0<span class=\"xn-chron\">September 2020<\/span>. The initial technical analysis has identified multiple prospects and leads with potential direct hydrocarbon indicators within the Kloofpadda Play Trend that are currently being matured for potential future exploration drilling.<\/li>\n<li><\/li>\n<li>The Block\u00a0<span class=\"xn-money\">11B<\/span>\/<span class=\"xn-money\">12B<\/span>\u00a0joint venture received the final fully-processed merged 3D data that integrates the PGS and Polarcus surveys over the Paddavissie Fairway in the first quarter of 2021 (2,305 square kilometers from PGS and 570 square kilometers from Polarcus). The improved quality of the fully-processed 3D volume, resulting in higher resolution, is expected to further reduce exploration risk. The final 3D volume has been integrated with the drilling and testing results to facilitate development studies.<\/li>\n<li><\/li>\n<li>The initial technical analysis has identified multiple additional prospects within the greater Paddavissie Fairway with amplitudes conforming to structure that improve the potential development.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span class=\"xn-person\">Garrett Soden<\/span>, the Company&#8217;s President and CEO, commented: &#8220;We are very enthusiastic about the potential value of Block\u00a0<span class=\"xn-money\">11B<\/span>\/<span class=\"xn-money\">12B<\/span>, both from the proposed development of the Paddavissie Fairway and from the large exploration upside remaining across the block. We look forward to TotalEnergies concluding gas price negotiations with the government and applying for a production license by next September.
