{"id":11035,"date":"2021-10-26T07:14:55","date_gmt":"2021-10-26T07:14:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/?p=11035"},"modified":"2021-10-26T07:14:55","modified_gmt":"2021-10-26T07:14:55","slug":"namibia-reconafrica-completes-2d-seismic-in-the-kavango-basin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/index.php\/namibia-reconafrica-completes-2d-seismic-in-the-kavango-basin\/","title":{"rendered":"NAMIBIA: ReconAfrica Completes 2D Seismic in the Kavango Basin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Reconnaissance Energy Africa \u00a0and its joint venture partner NAMCOR have announced the completion of the first seismic acquisition program ever conducted in the Kavango Basin, in northeast Namibia.<\/p>\n<p>The seismic program comprises 450 linear kilometres of high quality 2D seismic data<br \/>\nwhich was acquired within budget and on schedule. 150,000 human-hours were utilized<br \/>\nduring the campaign, of which 80% were Namibian nationals recruited nationally and,<br \/>\npredominantly, from local communities.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are very proud to have successfully completed this program, which is the first seismic program conducted in the Kavango Basin. Importantly, the program was conducted without accidents or adverse safety incidents to our employees and contractors. We have also been very successful in protecting the health of our workers despite conducting the campaign during the Covid-19 global pandemic&#8221;, said Shiraz Dhanani, lead Geophysicist.<\/p>\n<p>During his long career working on five continents, Shiraz has conducted seismic<br \/>\noperations worldwide with BP and ExxonMobil. A significant part of his professional life<br \/>\nhas been focused on oil and gas exploration in Africa.<\/p>\n<p>The seismic data processing contract was awarded to Down Under Geophysical in<br \/>\nHouston, Texas and Absolute Imaging in Calgary, Alberta in June of 2021. These two<br \/>\nleading geophysical companies were selected to process the data simultaneously in order<br \/>\nto capture best practices in the industry and maximize the quality of structural imaging.<br \/>\nThe processing of all seismic data and comprehensive interpretation is expected to be<br \/>\nfinalized by early December.<\/p>\n<p>Shiraz Dhanani went on to state; \u201cReconAfrica has successfully drilled two important<br \/>\nstratigraphic wells that clearly established the presence of a working petroleum system<br \/>\nand conventional reservoirs. With the successful completion of this seismic program,<br \/>\nReconAfrica intends to commence a multi-well drilling campaign in early Q1, 2022,<br \/>\ntargeting seismically defined traps and conventional reservoirs already encountered in<br \/>\nthe stratigraphic wells.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>ReconAfrica acknowledges the outstanding contribution made by Polaris Natural<br \/>\nResources Inc, of Calgary, Alberta, the principal seismic acquisition contractor, to the<br \/>\nsuccess of this seismic campaign.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Reconnaissance Energy Africa \u00a0and its joint venture partner NAMCOR have announced the completion of the first seismic acquisition program ever conducted in the Kavango Basin, in northeast Namibia.
