{"id":10897,"date":"2021-09-23T10:20:15","date_gmt":"2021-09-23T10:20:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/?p=10897"},"modified":"2021-09-23T10:20:15","modified_gmt":"2021-09-23T10:20:15","slug":"egyptian-united-oil-gas-provides-asx-1x-well-2022-drilling-programme-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.oilnewskenya.com\/index.php\/egyptian-united-oil-gas-provides-asx-1x-well-2022-drilling-programme-update\/","title":{"rendered":"EGYPTIAN: United Oil &#038; Gas Provides ASX-1X Well &#038; 2022 Drilling Programme Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"da\"><strong><span class=\"db\">Highlights<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"dc\"><span class=\"k\">&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"dd\">ASX-1X exploration well encountered at least 10m net pay in a number of oil-bearing reservoirs<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"de\"><span class=\"df\">&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"dg\">Completion of the well and\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"dh\">well-testing is now planned, and if successful, will be followed by an application to<span class=\"cg\">\u00a0the<\/span> Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation\u00a0(&#8220;EGPC&#8221;) for a development lease.<\/span><span class=\"dj\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"cy\"><span class=\"dd\">The ASX-1X well is located 7km to the north of the producing Al Jahraa Field. \u00a0It safely reached a Total Depth of 4,272m, several days ahead of schedule and under-budget.<\/span><span class=\"dd\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"dk\"><span class=\"dh\">Preliminary interpretations suggest the well encountered at least 10m net pay across a number of reservoir intervals, including the primary reservoir targets of the Abu Roash Formation. Evaluation of the well data is continuing, and a comprehensive plan for testing and completing the well is now planned. If successful, this will be followed by an application to<span class=\"cg\">\u00a0<\/span>EGPC for a development lease<span class=\"cg\">.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"dl\"><span class=\"dd\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"dl\"><span class=\"dh\">The ASX-1X well was drilled by the EDC-50 rig. It is the second exploration well to be drilled in 2021, adding to our subsurface understanding, and providing further confidence in the exploration potential of the Abu Sennan licence.<\/span><span class=\"cz\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"dm\"><span class=\"co\">2022 Drilling Programme<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"da\"><span class=\"dn\">As part of the long-term planning to realise the full potential of the Abu Sennan licence, the Company met the operator\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"dd\">recently to discuss an indicative drilling\u00a0<span class=\"cg\">programme for 2022 and beyond. This programme will include development wells to maintain production and exploration wells that have the potential to deliver large reserve and production upside, starting with an initial programme of four wells in 2022. The planned investment demonstrates the exciting future potential that is recognised within Abu Sennan. We look forward to building on the impressive returns to date and maximising output from this licence in the years to come.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"cy\"><span class=\"cz\">United holds a 22% working interest in the Abu Sennan licence, which is operated by Kuwait Energy Egypt.<\/span><span class=\"cr\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"da\"><span class=\"do\">United&#8217;s Chief Executive Officer,\u00a0Brian Larkin\u00a0commented:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"da\"><span class=\"dp\">&#8220;Today&#8217;s announcement is the fourth positive well result from Abu Sennan in 2021. With the well testing set to begin shortly, we look forward to\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"dq\">understanding the full potential of the ASX-1X well.<\/span><span class=\"dq\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"cy\"><span class=\"dq\">This is the second exploration well drilled in 2021 on Abu Sennan and gives us further confidence in the value of the remaining exploration potential of the licence.
